Life Realized hosts a variety of classes, seminars, and workshops on an ongoing basis. Please keep in mind that in almost all cases, pre-registration and pre-payment are required. If someone you know wants to sign up for a class listed on our Calendar but has no computer access, have them call 941-681-8188 and leave a detailed message. Alcohol Ink Painting
Alcohol Ink Painting - An Introduction
Spot, splash, pour and dab your way to learning a new technique for artistic expression. Explore the bright, vibrant world of alcohol ink painting. Create one-of-a-kind designs without using a brush! You’ll leave each class with two (2) unique, colorful notecard designs. Give to a special friend or frame and hang them. Class size is limited to allow for maximum individual attention. Edible Landscaping Self-Guided Tour
Take a self-guided tour of seven (7) Englewood and Venice area residential properties where the landscapes have been developed with a focus on plants and trees that produce fruits and vegetables.
Fermentation Workshop Series
Basic Fermentation Workshop #3:
Pickles and Fermented Vegetables
We will sample and discuss how to prepare various fermented veggies, including traditional style sour pickles.
This is a hands-on workshop. Each person attending will make and take home their own jar of pickles to enjoy! All materials will be provided; you may bring your own kitchen knife to use.
The Basic Fermentation Workshop Series will cover a variety of topics including kombucha, sauerkraut, and pickled vegetables. Single, 2-hour workshop.
Create your own beautifully decorated eggs. You will use traditional Ukranian Pysanki tools and techniques to wax and dye your eggs, and candle flame to remove the wax as you build up intricate designs and color overlays. This class is not suitable for children under 10. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Single, 2-1/2 hour session.
Bracelet Making - Chakra Tennis Bracelet
Wearing a Chakra bracelet has many benefits of balancing the seven chakras. If you have ever had an interest in the power of Chakra, or beading, this is a great way to combine the two, begin healing, and learn a new craft. Fun to make; fun to wear; a beautiful gift. Learn how to turn the pristine whie shells that you find on Englewood Beach into creative art pieces and keepsakes, Zen-doodle shells and elegant wall and window hangings incorporating driftwood, colored wire, and sea glass. Single, two-hour session.
Fiber Art Beginner's Workshop
Learn the fundamentals of wet felting. Make your choice of a table runner or painting with wool. Basic techniques, as well as artwork embellishment will be covered. Learn how to make felt from scratch, with no knitting or crocheting required. Single, 3-hour session.
Hand Printed T-Shirts & Napkins
Learn an easy method of fabric printing and cloth painting using colorful water-fast liquid acrylic paints. Explore the use of hand-cut stamps, potato prints, rubber stamps, and paint brushes to paint T-shirts and cloth napkins. Single, 2-hour session.
Make A Sacred Ceremonial Frame Drum & Drumstick
Learn how to make a ceremonial frame drum and drumstick, and come to better understand the Native American sacredness of these items. Construction and completion requires your attendance at two sessions. Two session, the first is five hours, the second is two hours.
Make beautiful mosaic jewelry using stained glass, charms, china, shells, or whatever you choose! You’ll learn techniques for working with various materials, construction tips, and leave with two mosaic pendants. Class size is limited to allow for maximum individual attention. Single, 3-hour session.
Signs of Love
Bring a little more love and hope into our world with whimsical hand-painted messages of encouragement. Create small hand-painted pieces with simple, positive messages using local driftwood, rocks, and scrap lumber. Place them around your home, in your garden, hide them around your neighborhood, or give them as gifts. Single, 2-hour session.
Introduction to Enfleurage
Enfleurage is an ancient technique for capturing the natural oils of fresh flowers as they exhale their scent. Natural perfumers, aromatherapists, and herbalists are very interested in this technique because it honors the full spectrum of components of the scent, without denaturing and destroying compounds. In Enfleurage, all the qualities of the natural flower are preserved and concentrated. Single, 2-1/2 hour session.
Stringed Instrument Repair Workshop
Most musicians have no idea about the true physics of the stringed instrument they play – acoustic or electric guitar, violin, bango, mandolin, cello, etc. Bring as many of your instruments as you care to, have them professionally assessed, have minor to mid-level repairs done “while you wait,” or arrange for more in-depth repairs done at our local luthier’s shop. You will leave this workshop with 1) a better playing instrument, and 2) significantly more knowledge of the instrument you’ve probably taken for granted for a long time. Single, 5-hour session.
What Key? Who Cares?!
Once you learn this simple way to represent the structure of any song, that can be understood – on sight – by any other musician who also knows this structure, you’ll never worry about playing an unfamilian song with unfamiliar musicians again. Take your musical skills to a new level, jump into those jams you shy away from. Three, 2-hour sessions.
How To Take Great Photographs With Your iPhone®
Learn how to greatly improve the photographs you take using the amazing camera in your Apple iPhone. You’ll have several “still-lifes” to practice composition, lighting, and getting the best shot possible, without the need for a separate camera. Single, two-hour session.
Creating Ethereal Photos With Your iPhone®
Learn simple tips, tricks, and techniques to create ethereal and “other-worldly” images using just your Apple iPhone. Single, 1-1/2 hour session.
Flat Lay Photography
Learn the technique of flat lay photography using your Apple iPhone. Flowers and other props will be available to aid in staging creative shots. Single 3-hour session.
Authentic Love: An Active Conversation
An informal, faciiitated, active conversation about authentic love and what it means to you. Bring paper hearts, doillies, ribbons, and scissors to construct Valentines for yourself or another special person. Not close enough to Valentine’s Day? Love is eternal! Single, two-hour session.
Comedy Improv Games – Workshop/Playshop
Have you ever thought you’d enjoy trying your hand at improv comedy? Well, here’s a safe, low-key introductory workshop – just for you!
This is a small class, not a performance. The class will be a closed session, so no need to worry about an audience. We’ll be playing with a variety of improv set-ups and games. Let your inner clown come out to play! Single, two-hour class.
Intro to Authentic Movement
Authentic Movement is a form of moving meditation that can be a deeply profound and illuminating personal experience. It is an expressive improvisational practice that fosters free association of the body. Movers explore spontaneous gestures, movements, and stillness, following inner impulses. It is best understood through participation – come and give it a try!

How to Transform Your Life By Telling The Truth
The truth not only has the power to set us free, it can also be a key to authentic relationships, a source of well being, and a vehicle through which the powers of compassion and action can be positively manifested.
The seminar is based on Dr. Brad Blanton’s best selling book which teaches a matter-of-fact and potentially liberating way of being honest. We will experience practical ways of authentic listening and speaking. We will explore useful techniques that allow us to notice things and events as they are versus thinking in a pre-conditioned, judgmental way. This seminar is facilitated by a certified Radical Honesty trainer.

Intro To Watercolors
A perfect class for those who may be curious about watercolors and want to give it a try before committing to a multi-week class and investing in supplies.
This one day, three-hour class is a condensed introduction to watercolor painting, with all materials provided. Learn about the materials required to get started in watercolors, how to mix paint and water, painting techniques and brush strokes. You’ll practice what you’ve learned by painting leaves, flowers, and a few other simple subjects. Class size is limited to allow for maximum individual attention. Single, three-hour class.
Watercolors 101 - Yes, You CAN Do It!
This class is the expanded, 4-class version of the Intro To Watercolor class.
- As a beginner or as a refresher for those with some experience, this 4-class series will lead you step-by-step as you learn the basics of getting started in watercolor painting.
- First, you’ll learn what tools and supplies are needed, and some basic elements of art. (composition, color theory, values, etc.)
- Then, you’ll work on some simple, but essential painting techniques and washes, and how to incorporate them into different aspects of paintings – sky, clouds, grass, water, etc.
- Lastly, you’ll learn how to get started on a painting project – choosing a subject, transferring that subject to watercolor paper, and what to paint first.
- Class size is limited to allow for maximum individual attention. Four, three-hour classes.
Seahorse Watercolor Painting Class
Take home a watercolor painting of a seahorse! This 2-1/2 hour class starts with a review of watercolor painting supplies and basic techniques, then takes you step-by-step through painting a seahorse. Single, 2-1/2 hour class.
