Aprons: The Ties That Bind

 

Your Museum Guide: Babs Vitale

 

Take a nostalgic trip through time in this unique exhibit featuring over 75 aprons, from the 1940’s through contemporary times. From practical to whimsical, from mass produced to hand-stitched, learn the trends, histories, and stories behind aprons. Add your own memories on the “My Apron Story” board.


Exhibit Hours:

Wednesday, November 25th: 11:00am – 3:00pm

Sunday, November 29th: 11:00am – 3:00pm

Saturday & Sunday, December 19th & 20th: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Learn the trends, histories, and stories behind aprons. Add your own memories on the “My Apron Story” board.

Wear a personal apron and get a chance to win a raffle basket. Take a photo at the “Be Your Own Grandma” Photo Booth.

 

Additional Exhibit:

We’ve Come a Long Way Baby: 1960’s Magazine Advertising – This included annex exhibit displays numerous advertisements directly from Seventeen Magazine from 1961-1969, a time of madmen, sexism, and female stereotype promotion.

Cost is $2.00 at the door; no advanced registration.


This Thanksgiving holiday exhibit has graciously been provided by Babs Vitale in support of Life Realized Inc., so that we can continue helping individuals live their best lives through recognizing and achieving their life’s passion. Life Realized offers opportunities through education, mentoring, and entrepreneurial support, and brings programming in the visual arts and and music into the local community.

This exhibit will be held in a 2,000 sq. ft. open space, with a COVID-19-compliant capacity of 45 persons. Rotating entry will be limited to 20 attendees at a time, and the exhibits will be dispersed throughout the space. Masks are required for entry.

Please note: there is NO parking at The Dearborn Center itself. Please use public parking, either anywhere along W. Dearborn St. or in the public lot, located off Cedar Street, behind Compadres Mexican Restaurant (the purple place, directly across the street from The Dearborn Center.)
